A new regional effort is underway in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Over 70 leaders have come together to launch a new organization, which calls itself the Ann Arbor Regional Success Strategy. I particularly like the attitude demonstrated by one of the leaders in announcing the new initiative,
"Too often people spend too much time on the plan and not enough on actually doing something," said Snyder, also former CEO of Gateway Computers and former chairman of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.'s executive committee. "There are a lot of good things that are already going on in our community, but there's a lack of coordination between them."
The challenge and executing regional strategies is to remain focused on a handful of transformative initiatives. This regional strategy will be one to watch as it evolves. The leaders have done a good job in articulating a strategic direction, and they appear intent on focusing on implementation and learning "what works".
